May 10th, 2014

My first baby is 8! Time really does fly, and I can't believe what a wonderful child my Olivia has grown into. Super generous, caring, and always up for a snuggle. Smart, hard working, and loves having a good time, including participating in impromptu dance parties. A voracious reader, artistic, and altruistic. How did I get so lucky?

Olivia had her dance recital today, but before she left for am rehearsal she opened the rest of her presents and endured another round of Happy Birthday (you know she secretly loves it).

She rehersed and then we hit a friend's birthday party. Our friend was very understanding that we couldn't stay the whole time, but we did enjoy seeing the birthday girl and her cool Frozen themed party.

We headed back to the theater and watched Olivia's performance. You know sometimes when you watch your child do something, and you just get that lump? The lump that's part pride, part joy, and part amazement at the things this little person can do? The lump that wants to come out of your throat and release through your eyes in happy tears? This was one of those moments. No, my daughter is not extremely graceful or a particularly fabulous dancer. But to me...oh to me, she was perfection itself. I could have watched her for hours. My lovely little dancing girl.

Olivia...but wait, what's that coming from the side???

A shadow???

Oh, a photo bomber!!! I swear this term was invented for Clara!
